Concrete patios offer the best combination of durability, cost, and design flexibility. Unlike pavers that shift and grow weeds between them, concrete stays solid. Unlike wood decks that rot and need constant maintenance, concrete just needs occasional sealing.
A properly installed concrete patio lasts 25-30 years with minimal upkeep. That's a better long-term value than most alternatives.
Plain concrete works fine, but if you want something with more character, we offer stamped patterns. Stamped concrete can look like brick, flagstone, slate, or even wood planks. Add integral color and you've got a patio that looks like expensive stone at a fraction of the cost.
We also do exposed aggregate finishes, which bring out the natural stone in the concrete mix. It adds texture and visual interest without looking artificial.
Every patio starts with proper preparation. We remove the old surface if needed, grade the area for drainage, and compact a solid base. The concrete goes down at least 4 inches thick, reinforced where needed.
Drainage is critical. A patio needs to slope away from your house—about 1/8 inch per foot. This keeps water from pooling on the surface or running toward your foundation. We get this right every time.
Control joints are cut into the concrete to manage where cracks will occur. Without them, cracks happen randomly and look terrible. With proper jointing, the concrete can expand and contract without visible damage.
The finish depends on what you want. Broom finish provides traction. Smooth troweled finish looks sleek. Stamped patterns add detail. We'll discuss options and help you choose what works best for your space.
